FAQs

Distinctive Tile & Stone

  • Is it necessary to seal stone?

Sealing stone is an essential step in our process. We apply sealant twice: once before fabrication and again after installation. The sealant sits on the stone's microscopic pores rather than penetrating deeply. We'll provide guidance on maintenance requirements before you make your final product selection, ensuring you choose the right product for your specific application.
  • What should I consider when purchasing a natural stone countertop?

When considering a natural stone countertop, it's important to note that granite is the industry standard for performance and longevity. Granite offers unparalleled strength, durability, and beauty. When properly sealed and maintained, granite resists stains, withstands heat, and is virtually scratch-proof.
  • Will cutting on my granite countertop scratch the granite?

Cutting directly on granite countertops will not scratch the stone. However, this practice will damage your knives. We recommend using a cutting board to protect your cutlery.
  • Can I set hot pans on my granite?

Granite countertops that are 3cm or 1 " thick can safely accommodate hot pans. The density of the stone allows it to absorb the heat shock from cookware straight from the stove or oven without damage.
  • What is the best way to care for my natural stone countertops?

For optimal care of your natural stone countertops, we advise using a clear, biodegradable liquid soap. This type of cleaner is suitable for all natural stone surfaces and helps maintain their beauty and integrity.
